Venice, FL: bulky pickup, appliances & disposal

City of Venice customers: arrange appliance collection at no additional fee; furniture and other large items require an appointment and a quoted charge.

Quick answer

The City of Venice collects household appliances by appointment without an additional collection fee. Furniture and other bulky items require booking and a quoted fee; call Public Works at 941-486-2422. The separate twice-yearly bulk YARD waste program is not two free furniture collections.

Confirm the street address is on City sanitation service; place scheduled bulky items curbside by 7 a.m. and remove refrigerator/freezer doors.

Book bulky items and appliances

Phone City of Venice Public Works at 941-486-2422. Give your address, number and type of items, and request a collection date and full quote before placing furniture outside.

The City’s published guide says household appliances are collected by appointment without an added pickup fee, whereas furniture and other oversize items normally involve a fee. Residents without a City account in their name must prepay any charged collection.

Curbside items are due by 7 a.m. on the agreed date, at least 3 feet from obstructions. Refrigerators and freezers must have their doors removed.

What belongs in bulky pickup?

Sofas and furniture

Verify whether the specific furniture item is part of a recurring curbside entitlement, a special booked stop, or a quoted haul-away service.

Mattresses and box springs

Ask whether the provider requires wrapping, a recycling appointment or a separate charge. Local bed-bug and mattress-recycling rules may apply.

Refrigerators and white goods

Refrigerant-containing appliances and large metal goods can require special collection. Confirm safe preparation; do not release refrigerant yourself.

Electronics and hazardous waste

Do not add batteries, paint, chemicals or televisions to an unconfirmed pile. These may require a separate recycling or household hazardous-waste service.

Fees and separate yard-waste program

Venice provides two scheduled collections of BULK YARD WASTE per October–September service year, capped at 20 cubic yards each, for brush and tree/shrub trimmings. This is not an included furniture or appliance allowance. City staff schedule these visits. Charges for furniture collection should be quoted directly by Public Works.

Before you leave it curbside

  • Check your address is inside the service boundary, not simply the same postal city.
  • Separate household furniture, appliances, building debris and chemicals.
  • Keep sidewalks, drainage, mailboxes and access ramps clear.
  • If an appointment is required, save the confirmation; otherwise verify the normal pickup day.
