How Oklahoma City bulky service works

Oklahoma City’s monthly curbside bulky program is included with the bundled residential trash/recycling service for qualifying single-residential households. Route assignments vary by address, and Phase 2 route changes took effect May 1, 2026, so residents should use the current MyTrashDay lookup rather than relying on an old calendar.

The first 4 cubic yards are included in the monthly service. Piles above that amount are billed for each additional cubic yard. The City’s current rate table lists an excess-bulky rate of $14.59 per cubic yard through October 2026, increasing to $15.32 on November 1, 2026.

02

Timing and placement

Set bulky material out by 6 a.m. on the assigned date and no more than 3 days early. Collection can occur within the City’s assigned multi-day service window. Leave approximately 5 feet of clearance around the pile and keep it away from sidewalks, meters, vehicles, trees, power lines, fences and other obstacles.

03

Furniture, carpet and mattresses

Furniture and carpet are accepted. Mattresses are also collected; if a mattress has bed bugs or biohazard contamination, wrap it in plastic and clearly mark the bag so crews know how to handle it safely.

Glass and mirrors can qualify when fully wrapped in cardboard and labeled “GLASS.”

04

Appliances and refrigerant items

Large household appliances can be handled through bulky service. Refrigerators, freezers and other Freon-containing appliances require special handling: remove the doors and call Customer Care so the item can be collected during the normal bulky-service window.

05

DIY repair debris and contractor waste

OKC allows some small waste generated by a homeowner doing a DIY repair. It does not accept heavy material such as bricks, concrete and rock through the normal bulky pile, and contractor-generated remodeling or landscaping waste must be removed by the contractor.

Do not hide bags of normal household trash in the bulky pile; bagged waste belongs in the Big Blue cart or another approved disposal route.

06

Tires, automotive waste and HHW

Tires, rims and automotive repair waste are not accepted in monthly bulky collection. Paint, oil, gasoline, pesticides, pool chemicals and other household hazardous waste should use the City’s HHW system instead, including the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center at 1621 S. Portland Avenue.

The City also holds Free Landfill Days for eligible residential customers, which can provide another route for qualifying self-hauled material.
