Salem trash & bulky-item rules

Salem regulates solid waste through six franchised haulers rather than one City-run bulky-item schedule. Residents should use the City’s Find Your Hauler tool to identify the provider for their service area and then confirm that hauler’s bulky-item price and appointment rules.

Quick answer

Salem regulates solid waste through six franchised haulers rather than one City-run bulky-item schedule. Residents should use the City’s Find Your Hauler tool to identify the provider for their service area and then confirm that hauler’s bulky-item price and appointment rules.

Who qualifies matters. Service and fees depend on the hauler serving the property.

02

Furniture, mattresses and appliances

The six franchised providers listed by the City are D&O Garbage & Recycling, Loren’s Sanitation & Recycling, Pacific Sanitation, Republic Services, Suburban Garbage Services and Valley Recycling & Disposal.

03

Household hazardous waste and other special material

Marion County provides separate HHW and self-haul facilities for materials that should not go through the regular hauler. Facility rules, hours and fees should be checked before travel.

  1. Confirm the service address and the agency or hauler responsible for it.
  2. Check whether the bulky route requires an appointment, assigned week, sticker, fee or volume limit.
