Furniture, mattresses and appliances

Furniture and large appliances can use the scheduled route. Mattresses can be dropped off free at DPW, 700 Allens Avenue, on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. with Providence ID, or scheduled for paid curbside pickup through Waste Management; paid curbside mattresses must be clean and bagged.

Household hazardous waste and other special material

HHW uses Rhode Island Resource Recovery Eco-Depot events, while e-waste can be scheduled for free pickup or dropped at DPW on Saturdays.

Before set-out

Schedule through Waste Management at 1-800-972-4545. Place ordinary bulky items at the curb between 4 p.m. the evening before and 4 a.m. on collection day, and keep the request to three items per unit.

  1. Confirm the service address and the agency or hauler responsible for it.
  2. Check whether the bulky route requires an appointment, assigned week, sticker, fee or volume limit.
