Quick answer
Sioux Falls does not use one universal municipal curbside bulky-pickup schedule. Residents contract with licensed private haulers, so oversized-item pickup details depend on the hauler serving the property.
Who qualifies matters. Collection service is private-hauler based; landfill-pass eligibility follows the City's regional rules.
Furniture, mattresses and appliances
Furniture, mattresses and other bulky household material can be arranged with the hauler or self-hauled when accepted. The City's annual landfill-pass program provides an additional disposal option for eligible households in the participating area.
Household hazardous waste and other special material
The Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 1015 East Chambers Street accepts listed household chemicals and special materials on its published schedule. Those materials should not be mixed with an ordinary bulky load.
Where to take large items in Sioux Falls
Sioux Falls uses private haulers; the regional landfill has material-specific restrictions.
Before set-out
Ask the licensed hauler about pickup fees and item preparation first. If self-hauling, check landfill-pass eligibility and landfill acceptance rules before loading the vehicle.
- Confirm the service address and the agency or hauler responsible for it.
- Check whether the bulky route requires an appointment, assigned week, sticker, fee or volume limit.
