Allen, TX: bulky pickup & disposal rules

Allen automatically collects eligible bulky items once a month on the Saturday assigned to your regular garbage weekday. Items must weigh under 150 pounds and be ready by 7 a.m.

1

Quick answer

Allen provides a scheduled-by-address monthly Saturday bulky-item collection for eligible residential accounts. Unlike an appointment-based city, the standard route follows the household’s regular garbage pickup weekday.

The City excludes rugs or carpeting longer than six feet in any dimension. The City also has a 150-pound item weight limit and a designated Saturday bulky route based on the ordinary trash weekday.

Saturday mapping: Monday trash → first Saturday; Tuesday → second; Wednesday or Thursday → third; Friday → fourth. CWD changes can affect holidays. No booking is needed for the standard route.

Important before pickup:Confirm the current item eligibility, booking cutoff and service address with the City or contractor. Charges may change.
2

Who qualifies

Use the City’s weekday-to-Saturday mapping only for eligible municipal residential collection accounts. Apartments and properties under independent hauling contracts may need building-specific service.

3

Furniture, mattresses and appliances

Eligible bulky items include broken furniture, mattresses, household appliances and certain outdoor equipment. Every individual item must weigh less than 150 pounds. Refrigerators, freezers and air-conditioning units require professional refrigerant removal and a visible certification tag. Rugs or carpeting larger than 6 feet in any dimension are excluded. Do not assume that all rugs are eligible.

4

Before setting anything out

The posted schedule maps Monday regular trash to the first Saturday; Tuesday to the second; Wednesday and Thursday to the third; and Friday to the fourth. Place accepted bulky pieces out by 7 a.m. on the correct Saturday and maintain access for the truck.

5

What not to put in the bulky pile

Do not set out rugs or carpeting larger than 6 feet in any dimension, tree limbs, yard clippings, remodeling or demolition materials, surplus household trash bags, chemical waste, or other City-listed exclusions. The standard monthly collection is automatic on your assigned Saturday, not an unrestricted extra trash collection. Ask CWD about separately quoted paid special collection for excluded bulky materials.

6

Where to take other large items

CWD can quote a separate additional collection if the monthly opportunity has passed or the item exceeds normal limits. Ask about local electronics/chemical options.
