Arlington trash & bulky-item rules

Arlington’s weekly residential collection allows a limited amount of bulky household material beside the cart, with larger volumes requiring another disposal route. The City also offers qualifying residents a separate landfill benefit.

Quick answer

Arlington’s cart system separates the cart itself from limited extra material. On the weekly collection day, residents may place up to two cubic yards of large household or bulky items and up to two cubic yards of bundled brush/yard material under the current City guidance.

The City warns that oversized curb piles above the allowed volume can become a code/collection issue rather than an automatic free pickup. If a cleanout is bigger than the weekly allowance, use the landfill benefit or arrange another legal disposal route.

02

Furniture, mattresses and household bulky material

Furniture and other large household items can fit the weekly bulky allowance when the material stays within the City’s stated volume limit. Keep the pile accessible to the collection truck and separate it from brush when the program requires separate material streams.

Eligible Arlington homeowners whose permanent residence is in Arlington currently receive up to three free landfill drop-offs per year. The benefit is not transferable and does not extend to renters, landlords, contractors or apartment-complex tenants. The Arlington Landfill is at 800 Mosier Valley Road and is open Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

03

Appliances, electronics, tires and hazardous items

Tires, appliances and electronics can have handling rules that differ from ordinary bulky furniture. Arlington’s landfill benefit and City disposal guidance should be checked before loading those items. Household hazardous waste such as paint, motor oil and pesticides is not accepted curbside or through the landfill benefit; the City directs residents to the Fort Worth Environmental Collection Center at 6400 Bridge Street.

If an item contains refrigerant, a battery, oil or another regulated component, do not treat it as ordinary curbside junk without checking the current instruction.

04

Renovation debris and larger cleanouts

Large renovation piles are not the same thing as the two-cubic-yard household bulky allowance. Contractor-generated material and heavy debris should be routed to a facility that accepts it.

For a mixed garage or remodel cleanout, separate ordinary bulky household items from construction material before collection day.
