Dickinson bulky pickup: up to 4 extra items each collection

Dickinson Water Control and Improvement District's current solid-waste page links its AmeriWaste heavy-trash guidelines. Ordinary household furniture is eligible with regular trash, subject to a shared four-item allowance.

Quick answer

For covered Dickinson WCID/AmeriWaste residential collection, the district allows four additional items per collection in any combination of heavy trash, tied bundles and bagged green waste. Furniture and some household appliances count as heavy trash. The four-item allowance is shared, not four of every category. Heavy trash and green waste are picked up with regular garbage.

How to get large items collected

  1. Step 1. Verify the property is in Dickinson city limits or the WCID service area. A Dickinson postal address may actually be in League City or Texas City. Call Dickinson WCID at 281-337-1576, option 1, about the correct account; Dickinson residences outside the water-district boundary may need a garbage-only account.
  2. Step 2. Find your assigned regular collection days using the district's official garbage schedule. Put household bagged waste inside the 96-gallon cart.
  3. Step 3. Count a maximum of four additional bulky, bundled or green-waste items combined. For example, one couch, one chair and two permitted bundles fill the four-item allowance.
  4. Step 4. Set accepted items out for the regular pickup route under the district's placement instructions. Call AmeriWaste at 281-585-3200 before placing unusual appliances or material at the curb.

Which items qualify?

Sofa, chair and ordinary furniture

The published heavy-trash definition expressly includes household furniture. Each bulky item uses part of the four-extra-item combined allowance.

Appliances and refrigerators

Household appliances are covered by the heavy-trash description. Refrigerators and freezers must have a visible tag that refrigerant has been removed; confirm preparation and any safety rules with AmeriWaste.

Branches, bundles and bagged green waste

These share the four-item allowance. Bundles must be under five feet long, 18 inches across and 50 pounds. Follow the district's separate brush and green-waste instructions.

Televisions, monitors and hazardous goods

Not collected in ordinary heavy trash: televisions, computers, monitors, microwaves, tires, paint, motor oil, batteries and other hazardous waste. Use an accepted specialist or district-recommended collection program.

Mattress and box spring

The district's heavy-trash guidelines name furniture generally, but do not expressly identify mattresses. Confirm mattress acceptance and any wrapping rule with AmeriWaste before placing one outside.

Fees and limits

The district's currently linked garbage-collection guidelines describe the four-extra-item pickup with regular trash; they do not establish a separate per-item fee there. This is not a promise of free service for unregistered households. A regular solid-waste account may be billed through Dickinson WCID, and recycling is an optional separate service.

Do not use historical monthly rates printed on an older district PDF as a current 2026 bill. Verify the latest rates and the service account with WCID.

Before you set out

Confirm collection days and service-area eligibility. Ask AmeriWaste (281-585-3200) about any item not named in the guideline. For account setup, call Dickinson WCID (281-337-1576, option 1).
