El Paso trash & bulky-item rules
El Paso uses paid special curbside collection rather than a recurring free bulky-junk day, backed by five resident collection stations and the Greater El Paso Landfill.

Quick answer
El Paso does not provide a recurring free bulky-item day. Residents who want the City to collect large household material from the curb can request a paid special collection. The current fee is $35 for 5 cubic yards or less, plus $7 for each additional cubic yard, with tax added.
Set material out by 6 a.m. on the scheduled day and keep the pile at least 5 feet from carts, mailboxes, walls, fences, water meters, utility equipment, vehicles and other obstructions. The charge is billed to the customer's El Paso Water Utilities account.
What special pickup accepts
The City's current accepted list includes furniture, mattresses and box springs, carpet, doors, lumber, pallets, empty appliances, barbecue grills with fuel removed, lawnmowers with fuel and oil removed, brush, branches and tree trunks.
The service is not an unrestricted cleanup pile. Tires, household hazardous waste, used electronics, dirt, rocks, concrete, compressed-gas cylinders, commercial/industrial waste and titled vehicles are excluded.
Citizen Collection Stations
El Paso operates five Citizen Collection Stations for residents. They accept household trash, bulky items, recyclables, electronics and household hazardous waste, but they do not accept construction or demolition material. Residents need the City's access pass and should bring the required proof tied to their residential account.
The stations currently limit paint and motor oil to 5 gallons per month. Because the stations are designed for residential loads rather than contractors or major construction projects, large or unusual loads should be checked before travel.
Electronics, appliances and hazardous waste
Residential electronics such as televisions, computers, monitors, printers, phones and similar devices can be taken to the Citizen Collection Stations or the Greater El Paso Landfill instead of being placed in a special curbside pile.
Household hazardous waste also belongs at the collection stations. Appliances containing refrigerant require special handling; residents should check current station rules before transporting refrigerators, freezers or air conditioners.
Tires and the landfill
Tires are not accepted through El Paso's special curbside pickup. The City's FY2026 fee schedule lists separate landfill charges: $3 for tires 19.5 inches or less, $10 for larger tires under 24 inches, and weight-based pricing for tires over 24 inches, with additional rim-removal fees when applicable.
The Greater El Paso Landfill is at 2600 Darrington Road. Current general disposal pricing is $30 per ton with a $16 minimum. The FY2026 schedule also lists a $20 mattress disposal fee and a refrigerant-removal charge for applicable appliances. Residents self-hauling mixed or unusual loads should check the latest fee schedule first.
