01

Quick answer

Garland’s brush/bulky route follows the weekly trash schedule. Place accepted material no earlier than 6 p.m. the evening before the assigned day.

The City does not treat all heavy objects as curb bulk. Individual-item handling limits and a long list of construction-type exclusions apply.

02

Furniture, mattresses and household bulky material

Garland’s current rule says individual items weighing more than 40 pounds will not be collected curbside, including bagged or boxed material. Furniture and mattresses are listed bulky categories, but the published individual-item weight limit still controls. If a piece is over 40 pounds, use an approved self-haul route such as the City transfer station or contact Sanitation for another authorized option.

Brush/bulk is collected weekly with the green-cart route. Ordinary bulky material may be set out after 6 p.m. the night before; tree limbs have a separate any-day allowance. Keep brush, bulky goods, appliances and bagged leaves/grass in separate piles at least four feet apart.

03

Appliances, electronics, tires and hazardous items

Tires and several special materials are excluded from curb bulky service. Garland residents have separate disposal resources for those items.

The City transfer station is a useful self-haul option for qualifying residents; check proof-of-residency and accepted-material rules before driving over.

04

Renovation debris and larger cleanouts

Concrete, masonry, asphalt, rock, dirt, pallets, roofing and tires are excluded from ordinary weekly bulk. Resident-performed DIY remodeling debris is collected up to four times per calendar year; contractors are responsible for their own debris.

Contractor-generated debris should be handled through an appropriate commercial disposal service.

The City’s current accepted-material page explicitly lists furniture and mattresses while also applying a 40-pound maximum to individual curbside items; over-limit pieces need another disposal route.
