Verified local rules — October 2026

League City permits up to two accepted heavy-trash items on the scheduled collection day. Place items out no earlier than 6 p.m. the prior evening and by 7 a.m. on collection day, at least four feet from other objects.

Refrigerators and freezers require a refrigerant-removal tag from a licensed professional. Televisions, computers, construction waste and extremely heavy gym equipment are not automatically accepted.

2

Who qualifies

A resident must confirm that the address uses League City’s contracted residential collection. Verify which of the property’s regular collection days accepts heavy trash under the most current City map and service calendar.

3

Furniture, mattresses and appliances

Furniture and some appliances qualify; toilets may need their tanks separated. For refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and other cooling devices, Freon must be removed by a licensed HVAC technician or plumber before pickup. The appliance must carry a tag showing the service provider’s license number and service date. Items without compliant refrigerant documentation are not eligible for heavy-trash collection.

4

Before setting anything out

City materials specify setout by 7 a.m. and no earlier than 6 p.m. the prior day. Keep at least four feet of clearance from containers, cars and obstructions. If large household objects exceed the two-item limit, arrange extra service first.

5

What not to put in the bulky pile

Do not expect TVs, computer electronics, chemicals, demolition material, or auto parts to be collected as heavy trash. Some city materials specifically exclude microwave ovens.

6

Where to take other large items

For unwanted electronics and hazardous waste, use City-approved recycling or regional collection routes. Ask the current hauler how to order a paid extra collection.
