Quick answer
Plano’s regular bulky program follows a monthly calendar. Check the address schedule before set-out because the collection day is not the same for every neighborhood.
The City also offers special collection when a resident needs pickup outside the normal date or has a pile beyond the standard program criteria. Current published fees are based on cubic-yard volume with a minimum charge.
Put eligible bulky items at the collection point by 7 a.m. The published special service is $10 per cubic yard with a $20 minimum; call Environmental Waste Services at 972-769-4150 for a pickup and an item-specific total.
Furniture, mattresses and household bulky material
Furniture and accepted household bulky items can use the monthly route when they meet size/material rules. Painted or stained lumber is directed to monthly bulky waste rather than the yard-trimmings program.
Keep the pile separated from prohibited heavy materials.
Appliances, electronics, tires and hazardous items
Refrigerators, freezers, window air conditioners and other Freon-containing items use special paid collection and are subject to a $25 environmental fee. Do not place them in the normal monthly pile without arranging the correct service.
Do not place compressed gas containers, vehicle parts or tires with normal bulky waste unless the current City guidance says otherwise.
Renovation debris and larger cleanouts
Plano excludes bricks, rock, asphalt, gravel, concrete, soil/sod, railroad ties, shingles and contractor-type debris from ordinary bulky collection.
Heavy project waste should be taken to an appropriate facility or handled by a private debris service.
Local drop-off options and fees
Confirm the Plano pickup date, item limits and preparation rules before setting anything out.
Plano directs residents to scheduled household chemical collection for paint, oil, pesticides, solvents and other household hazardous material. Electronics can use designated community recycling events; confirm the current event and accepted list before traveling.
Plano residential Environmental Waste Services customers can self-haul yard trimmings to the NTMWD Custer Transfer Station, 9901 Custer Road. Its access and load rules are separate from curbside bulky collection; do not assume every mixed load or special item is free.
Before set-out
- Verify the service address. Confirm that City of Plano Environmental Waste Services or its listed provider actually serves the property.
