Fremont trash & bulky-item rules

Quick answer
Fremont residents with individual garbage service can schedule two free bulky pickups each year. Multifamily properties do not necessarily use the same individual-household allowance, so tenants should check the building’s arrangement.
The City limits the collection footprint and individual item size/weight; current guidance uses a roughly six-foot by six-foot pile and a 150-pound / four-foot item limit.
Furniture, mattresses and household bulky material
Furniture and mattresses can use the scheduled route when they fit the program rules. The City also limits the number of large appliances or similarly large items in one pickup.
Book with Republic before set-out and follow the location instruction for the property.
The pile footprint is six feet × six feet. The City also publishes a four-foot/150-pound individual-item limit and no more than two large appliances or similarly large items. Identify any oversize appliance when booking rather than assuming it is exempt; call Republic at 510-657-3500.
Appliances, electronics, tires and hazardous items
Fremont’s accepted examples include TVs, computers, stereos, household appliances and furniture, within the booked pickup’s limits. HHW is excluded: do not mix paint or chemicals into that pile.
Do not mix paint, chemicals or other hazardous liquids into the pickup pile.
Renovation debris and larger cleanouts
Construction and demolition debris is not accepted in the free bulky program. Use an authorized facility or debris service for remodeling waste.
Fremont’s illegal-dumping page links the legal bulky option specifically to help residents avoid leaving material in public areas.
Local drop-off options and fees
Confirm the Fremont pickup date, item limits and preparation rules before setting anything out.
Alameda County’s free household HHW drop-off is at 41149 Boyce Road in Fremont, Wednesday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m., and Saturday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., excluding holidays. No appointment is needed. Bring County-address proof such as driver’s license, state ID, utility bill or rental/ownership paperwork.
The resident must transport the household waste; third-party haulers and business waste do not qualify for this household service. Limit a trip to fifteen gallons or 125 pounds, with each leakproof container no larger than five gallons or fifty pounds. The HHW service’s free status does not make ordinary transfer-station garbage disposal free.
Before set-out
- Verify the service address. Confirm that City of Fremont / Republic Services or its listed provider actually serves the property.
