Fresno trash & bulky-item rules
Fresno has two separate bulky programs: annual neighborhood Operation Clean Up and a one-item request service available once per one-year period.

Fresno has two different bulky programs
Operation Clean Up (OCU) provides one scheduled neighborhood collection each year for eligible City of Fresno solid-waste customers. Separately, the One-Time Bulky Item Pickup allows an eligible account to request one oversized household item once in a one-year period at no additional charge.
They are not interchangeable. OCU is the larger annual cleanup; the newer request program is designed for one couch, mattress, dryer or similarly oversized item between OCU dates.
Operation Clean Up limits
OCU allows up to 10 cubic yards, described by Fresno as two piles approximately 8 ft × 4 ft × 4 ft or roughly two pickup-truck beds loaded to cab height. Do not place items out more than 7 days before the scheduled OCU date, and have the pile ready by 6 a.m..
Current guidance accepts furniture, mattresses/box springs, non-refrigerant appliances, drained water heaters, sinks/toilets, certain fencing/cabinets and yard debris. Fresno asks residents to keep the wood/green-waste pile separate from the general-trash pile.
OCU exclusions and limited heavy material
Operation Clean Up excludes refrigerators/freezers, tires, batteries, paint, major remodeling debris, contractor-generated waste and roofing material. However, the City does allow a very small amount of heavy DIY material: concrete, rock, brick and dirt are limited to a combined two wheelbarrow loads.
Glass or sliding doors should be taped. Yard material should be cut to the current preparation limits before set-out.
One-Time Bulky Item Pickup
The One-Time program is available once in a one-year period per eligible account. Request service through Fresno 311, (559) 621-CITY or FresGO. Solid Waste contacts the resident within about 7 business days to confirm a date, and the item should be placed out no more than 36 hours before that confirmed pickup.
Accepted examples include couches, mattresses, chairs, desks, dressers, stoves/ovens and drained water heaters. The program excludes refrigerators/freezers, tires, electronic waste, household hazardous waste and ordinary household garbage.
Tires, e-waste and hazardous waste
Tires and e-waste need separate disposal routes rather than either curbside bulky program. Fresno County operates solid-waste/HHW resources, including the Environmental Compliance Center at 1327 W. Dan Ronquillo Drive. Tires can also be routed through County disposal/recycling facilities subject to current limits and fees.
Paint, batteries, chemicals, pesticides, motor oil and other hazardous materials should use Fresno County or other authorized HHW/recycling programs.
Multifamily warning
Operation Clean Up does not serve multifamily properties with four or more units. Residents in those properties should follow the building’s contracted waste-service rules instead of placing an OCU pile at the curb.
