Irvine’s residential waste system uses Waste Management as the exclusive hauler. Bulky pickup is arranged through that provider rather than through a separate City collection crew.
The current WM residential guide includes four qualifying bulky items per pickup and four free pickups per calendar year. Call 949-642-1191 at least 48 hours before collection so WM can assign the truck.
Furniture, mattresses and household bulky material
Furniture and appliances are among the bulky examples in the residential guide. Keep the count at four or fewer for the free pickup unless the provider confirms a different account arrangement.
Additional collections can carry a charge, so a large cleanout may be cheaper to self-haul or split into approved appointments.
Appliances, electronics, tires and hazardous items
The guide also includes e-waste among bulky/special items, but paint, chemicals and other household hazardous waste need the correct County/City disposal route.
Ask Waste Management about refrigerant preparation before putting out a refrigerator or freezer.
Renovation debris and larger cleanouts
Construction debris is not ordinary four-item household bulk. Use an approved debris service or disposal facility for remodeling waste.

Orange County’s Irvine HHW center is at 6411 Oak Canyon, open Tuesday–Saturday, 9 a.m.–3 p.m., excluding major holidays and rainy weather. County residents can bring household paint, chemicals, batteries and electronics free; proof of county residence may be requested.
Business, school, nonprofit and out-of-county waste are excluded from the household HHW program. Call 714-834-4000 about unusual quantities or materials. The City’s older pollution-prevention page describes e-waste pickup twice yearly; confirm e-waste scheduling with WM rather than treating that sentence as a change to the guide’s four annual bulky pickups.
