Quick answer
Stockton’s Clean Sweep by Appointment offers one free annual collection during February–October to single-family homes, duplexes and triplexes within City limits. Call your garbage company at least two weeks ahead: WM at 209-946-5711 or Republic Services at 209-466-3604.
The included pile is three cubic yards: 3 feet high × 9 feet long × 3 feet wide. Extra cubic yards are charged; piles exceeding ten cubic yards are not collected and can be referred for enforcement.
Furniture, mattresses and household bulky material
Accepted examples include furniture and mattresses along with several other common household bulky items. Keep the pile within the stated volume and separate material if the service guide instructs you to.
The program is not an unlimited whole-house cleanout; a larger load should be split legally or taken to an appropriate facility.
Put the pile in the street in front of the home on the evening before the confirmed collection, away from parked cars and without blocking traffic. Small items must be bagged or boxed, with each bag or box no heavier than 40 pounds.
Appliances, electronics, tires and hazardous items
Current program material lists appliances, televisions/monitors and certain e-waste among accepted categories, with e-waste separated from the rest of the pile. Up to five tires without rims are also listed.
Keep engines, automobile batteries, paint, oils, chemicals, medical waste and other hazardous materials out of Clean Sweep. The City lists appliances as accepted but does not establish a resident refrigerant-removal requirement on this page; identify a refrigerator or freezer when booking.
Clean Sweep also permits up to six 30-gallon bags of household or green waste; the tire allowance is five tires with rims removed.
Renovation debris and larger cleanouts
Dirt, rocks, concrete, bricks and similar heavy construction material are excluded from the household Clean Sweep list. Contractor debris needs a different disposal route.
Use the City’s current Clean Sweep list and your assigned garbage company for an unusual item. County pockets outside City limits do not qualify for this City program.
Local drop-off options and fees
Confirm the Stockton pickup date, item limits and preparation rules before setting anything out.
San Joaquin County’s HHW facility is at 7850 R.A. Bridgeford Street. County residents can deliver household chemicals and paint free, Thursday–Sunday, 9 a.m.–3 p.m., except major holidays. The transport limit is 15 gallons or 125 pounds per trip; call 800-207-8222 for an unusual material.
The HHW facility does not accept refrigerators, air conditioners, large appliances or tires. Do not take those there merely because they are excluded from ordinary garbage.
