Quick answer
Visalia’s primary free large-item options are its Dump On Us events and the Dump On Us Voucher Program; the City does not publish a simple routine curbside bulky-item allowance on the sources reviewed.
Before you use the rule: City of Visalia sanitation customers; verify the current special-pickup or self-haul route before set-out.
Furniture, mattresses and appliances
Dump On Us accepts large appliances, mattresses, tires without rims and other listed materials. The 2026 event dates are February 21, May 16, August 15 and November 14, 7 a.m.–noon at 335 N. Cain St.; residents may also obtain up to two landfill vouchers per household per calendar year at City Hall West.
Furniture and mattresses are often treated differently from appliances, electronics, tires or construction material. If the local confirmation gives a pickup date, follow that confirmation rather than treating the regular trash day as permission to set oversized items out.
Household hazardous waste and other special material
The City household hazardous waste facility at 335 North Cain Street operates on published Saturday hours for qualifying materials.
Keep paint, chemicals, fuels, batteries, propane cylinders and other hazardous products out of a bulky pile unless the responsible local agency explicitly says otherwise. Refrigerant appliances, tires, electronics and renovation debris also commonly have separate rules.
