Scottsdale trash & bulky-item rules

Scottsdale provides monthly brush and bulk collection to City residential ratepayers. The City uses a collection week rather than a single appointment and requires brush and household bulk to be placed in separate piles.

Quick answer

Scottsdale assigns each area a monthly brush/bulk collection week. Material should not be placed earlier than three days before the Monday that starts the assigned week.

The current maximum pile size is ten feet long by six feet wide by four feet high. The City also limits how long the crew can spend at one address, so oversized or tangled piles may not be fully collected.

The included pile is 10 feet long × 6 feet wide × 4 feet high. Set out no earlier than Friday, three days before the week, and by 5 a.m. Monday at the assigned front/alley location. Crews make one pass. Oversize collection is limited to twenty minutes; remaining material must be removed within seventy-two hours of notice.

02

Furniture, mattresses and household bulky material

Furniture and accepted household bulk belong in a separate pile from brush. That separation matters because the materials are handled differently.

Follow the current location/clearance rule so the equipment can reach the pile without damaging cars, walls or overhead lines.

Separate brush from household bulk by three feet. The City specifically accepts CRT/projection TVs in bulk; flat-panel electronics use the separate recycling events.

03

Appliances, electronics, tires and hazardous items

Schedule separate appliance collection at 480-312-5600 for the last Thursday of the month. Refrigerant appliances require a certified technician to recover coolant and the compressor to be removed. Remove refrigerator/freezer doors, hinges, lids and latches according to the City’s preparation instructions.

Flat-panel TVs and other electronics use free quarterly resident events at 9191 East San Salvador Drive with City address proof. HHW uses the monthly scheduled home program for paying City solid-waste accounts. The City says its solid-waste facilities do not accept appliance, electronics or HHW drop-offs.

04

Renovation debris and larger cleanouts

Construction/remodeling debris and rocks are excluded from monthly brush/bulk. Use a landfill, transfer facility or debris service that accepts them.

Cut brush to six feet or shorter. Construction/remodeling debris, rocks and other listed project materials are excluded from the monthly brush/bulk service.

Paying City solid-waste households may take up to 2,000 pounds of trash, brush or eligible bulk to the designated landfill once each calendar week, Monday–Saturday. Bring a printed City bill showing solid-waste charges and matching driver’s license with the same account/address; a bill displayed on a phone is not accepted.

The resident vehicle limit is a three-quarter-ton pickup or smaller, or 1.5 cubic yards. The City lists $60 per ton with a $30 minimum for loads over the allowance or without qualifying proof, paid in cash. Refrigerant appliances have an extra landfill charge unless accompanied by the required certified-recovery documentation. Check the current program link before hauling.
