Aurora trash & bulky-item rules

Aurora does not run residential curbside trash collection. Homes, HOAs and building managers contract with permitted private haulers, so bulky-item pickup rules are provider-specific rather than set by one citywide collection calendar.

Check who actually serves your addressAurora residents and property managers contract with permitted haulers. Apartment contracts, HOAs, annexed areas and private-hauler boundaries can change which rule applies.
01

Quick answer

Aurora’s official trash page is explicit: residential curbside garbage and recycling are not provided by the City. The resident, HOA or building manager selects a permitted private company and follows that company’s service rules.

This makes address verification especially important. A neighbor’s bulky allowance, pickup day or surcharge may not apply to your property if a different hauler or HOA contract serves the address.

02

Furniture, mattresses and household bulky material

For a couch, mattress or other large household item, identify the permitted hauler serving the property, then ask whether it offers scheduled bulky pickup, how many items it will take and where the items belong. Aurora maintains the current permitted-hauler list on its official Trash & Recycling page.

Aurora’s neighborhood code guidance prohibits dumping or storing furniture, mattresses and appliances outdoors, so a long-term curb or yard pile is not a substitute for arranging disposal.

03

Appliances, electronics, tires and hazardous items

Aurora publishes separate recycling guidance for appliances, electronics, mattresses and other materials that should not simply be treated as ordinary garbage. Use the City’s current Recycling Opportunities page because events and available outlets can change.

Appliances, electronics, paint, batteries and chemicals should be checked separately with the hauler or an authorized recycling/disposal site.

04

Renovation debris and larger cleanouts

Remodeling debris is often outside standard residential cart and bulky service. Confirm the hauler’s construction-waste rules or use a facility permitted for that material.

For any large cleanout, identify the provider first; Aurora’s private-hauler system makes that step more important than searching for a nonexistent municipal bulk day.
