Cleveland trash & bulky-item rules

Quick answer
The City’s waste division separates ordinary weekly cart material from bulk. During the first full collection week of the month, a household may place up to three accepted bulk items for collection.
Cleveland 311 also supports bulk requests and tells residents to make the request roughly 24–48 hours before the collection day. Check the current calendar because a holiday can shift the “first full week” timing.
Furniture, mattresses and household bulky material
Accepted examples include furniture, mattresses, large boxes and certain appliances after required preparation. Mattresses and cloth-covered furniture must be wrapped in plastic under the City’s current instruction.
Do not exceed the three-item monthly limit and do not place a loose room-sized pile out as though it were three items.
Appliances, electronics, tires and hazardous items
The City currently allows up to four tires without rims under its bulk guidance. Appliances that contain coolant or other fluids need the stated preparation before collection.
Electronics and hazardous waste have separate disposal routes; use the City’s current 311/waste guidance before putting them with bulk.
Renovation debris and larger cleanouts
Cleveland residents also have a limited free bulk drop-off option at the Ridge Road Transfer Station, currently up to four times per year. Loads are limited to four cubic yards per visit. The City’s current waste page lists Ridge Road at 3727 Ridge Road, with 9 a.m.–3 p.m. hours; check the live page for the day and material you plan to bring.
Construction debris and contractor loads are not interchangeable with residential bulk. Verify transfer-station rules before hauling a renovation load.
