Quick answer
Toledo’s 2026 bulky system is designed around the regular trash route. Residents may put out up to five accepted bulky items each week on the normal collection day without calling first.
The City limits individual items to under 40 pounds, so very heavy furniture or equipment may need another disposal route even if it looks like ordinary bulk.
Furniture, mattresses and household bulky material
Bag or wrap mattresses. Tie branches, wood or rugs in bundles no larger than 3 feet × 4 feet, and keep each item or bundle under 40 pounds. Remove nails and screws or pound them flat.
Collection is at the front curb; the City says there is no alley or side-street pickup. Call Republic Services at 419-936-2511 about an appliance or furniture piece that exceeds the published weight limit.
Appliances, electronics, tires and hazardous items
Electronics, tires, paint and hazardous material should use the designated recycling or drop-off route. The Clean Toledo Recycling Center is one City resource for materials that do not belong in standard carts.
Do not mix prohibited special waste into the five-item weekly allowance.
Renovation debris and larger cleanouts
Construction debris is not automatically eligible just because it is under 40 pounds. Use the City’s disposal guidance for remodeling material and heavy debris.
Check the 2026 calendar before a holiday because the regular collection day can shift.
Local drop-off options and fees
Confirm the Toledo pickup date, item limits and preparation rules before setting anything out.
Clean Toledo Recycling Center, opened in June 2026, is at 3900 Creekside Avenue, Tuesday–Saturday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Bring proof of Toledo residency and unload your own material. Accepted examples include electronics, scrap metal and appliances without refrigerant; grass is excluded from its yard-waste stream.
Hoffman Road Landfill requires Toledo or Lucas County residency proof and accepts cash only. Ordinary residential bulky disposal is $16 per cubic yard with a $16 minimum. Passenger and truck tires are $3 each; semi/tractor tires are $10. It does not accept yard waste, chemicals, paint, TVs/monitors or appliances containing Freon.
Free landfill days are limited advertised events, not a standing year-round free service. Check the current calendar, entry requirements and load restrictions before using one.
