Quick answer

McAllen uses a current 2026 sector-based Brush & Bulky schedule. Collection week depends on the address sector; place eligible material at the assigned location before Monday of the scheduled collection week.

Before you use the rule: City residential customers; collection week depends on sector.

02

Furniture, mattresses and appliances

Use the City’s 2026 sector map to identify the assigned collection week and place eligible items at the normal collection location before Monday. McAllen residents may also use the Recycling Center at 4101 N. Bentsen Road for listed furniture, carpet, bulky toys, wood, tires and appliances with a current utility bill.

Furniture and mattresses are often treated differently from appliances, electronics, tires or construction material. If the local confirmation gives a pickup date, follow that confirmation rather than treating the regular trash day as permission to set oversized items out.

03

Household hazardous waste and other special material

Use McAllen Public Works special-waste and recycling resources for household chemicals, electronics and materials excluded from bulky collection.

Keep paint, chemicals, fuels, batteries, propane cylinders and other hazardous products out of a bulky pile unless the responsible local agency explicitly says otherwise. Refrigerant appliances, tires, electronics and renovation debris also commonly have separate rules.
