Boise trash & bulky-item rules

Boise’s Curb It program provides a limited large-item pickup for items such as couches, appliances and mattresses. Residents schedule through the current Republic/Curb It contact rather than placing the item out without notice.

01

Quick answer

Boise’s garbage service uses a franchise hauler, and the City’s current Curb It materials describe a limited large-item pickup for residential customers. The resident must schedule the service before the item is placed at the regular collection location.

The current City Curb It residential guide tells residents to call Republic Services at 208-345-1266 to schedule a large-item pickup. Check the live Curb It page before relying on a saved number in the future.

The City’s service guide includes six large household items each year. Call Republic Services at 208-345-1266 to schedule; ask the price before exceeding the included allowance.

02

Furniture, mattresses and household bulky material

Couches, mattresses and certain appliances are the main large-item examples. Follow the appointment instructions for item count, placement and any preparation.

Do not leave a bulky object at the curb until the hauler confirms the pickup.

03

Appliances, electronics, tires and hazardous items

Tires are not collected through the ordinary large-item service. Electronics, paint, chemicals and refrigerant appliances may also use separate disposal/recycling programs.

Use Boise’s current item guide for those special materials.

Paint, chemicals, TVs/monitors and listed small electronics can use Boise’s HHW program. Mobile sites accept about twenty-five items or a small car/SUV load; larger cleanouts go to the Ada County Landfill HHW facility. Tires do not use the mobile HHW service and incur a separate landfill fee.

Used motor oil can be collected curbside in a clear, screw-top container labeled “Used Oil,” up to two gallons. This is a specific oil program, not permission to leave other chemicals beside the cart.

04

Renovation debris and larger cleanouts

Construction debris is not equivalent to a scheduled couch pickup. Remodeling waste should go to an approved disposal facility or appropriate container service.

For a large cleanout, confirm volume and fees directly with the franchise hauler.

Ada County Landfill is at 10300 North Seamans Gulch Road. The City lists its HHW facility for larger household loads on Fridays and Saturdays, 8 a.m.–6 p.m.; those HHW hours differ from the landfill’s general garbage hours. Console TVs go to the landfill recycling area. Call Boise HHW at 208-608-7136 or the landfill at 208-577-4725 for material-specific questions.
