Nashville trash & bulky-item rules
Nashville primarily uses resident self-haul Convenience Centers for bulky items rather than recurring municipal curbside furniture pickup.
Nashville, TN — start here
Nashville is mainly a self-haul system
Nashville Waste Services directs items too bulky for the curbside cart to one of Metro’s four Convenience Centers: Anderson Lane, East, Ezell Pike and Omohundro. Normal current hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with closures on Metro holidays.
Residents must show a Tennessee driver’s license proving Davidson County residency, unload their own material and use a non-commercial vehicle. Commercial loads and vehicles with commercial advertising or tags are not accepted.
Free furniture allowance and additional volume
The current fee table allows three bags of household trash plus one qualifying bulk item free per visit. Typical bulk items include household furniture and other material that will not fit the normal cart.
Additional material is charged by volume. Current published rates start at $10 for less than one cubic yard, while larger qualifying residential loads can be charged per cubic yard.
Mattresses, tires and appliances
Mattresses and box springs cost $12 each at East, Ezell and Omohundro, with a four-per-month limit. At East and Ezell, up to four tires without rims per month are free; tires with rims cost $5 each under the same monthly limit.
Scrap-metal and appliance routes are also available through the Convenience Centers. Refrigerators, ovens, washers, dryers and similar metal appliances should be routed to the accepted scrap/appliance area rather than ordinary bagged trash.
Electronics and HHW
Electronic waste is banned from normal waste and is accepted free at East, Ezell and Omohundro, subject to the current 100-pound visit limit. Household hazardous waste is free at East and Ezell, with a maximum of 15 gallons or 100 pounds per residential visit.
Oil-based paint, automotive fluids, pesticides, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, household chemicals and pool chemicals are examples of HHW. Latex/acrylic paint follows separate Nashville guidance rather than the HHW stream.
Construction and demolition material
Omohundro accepts limited homeowner C&D material at the current rate of $20 for up to 2 cubic yards. This is not an unlimited construction dump. Nashville excludes many heavy materials, including brick, concrete, dirt, masonry, rock, roofing shingles, siding, rebar and railroad ties.
