Salt Lake City trash & bulky-item rules
Salt Lake City’s Call 2 Haul program gives residential curbside garbage customers scheduled collection opportunities for bulky waste and green waste. The City distinguishes those material types, so residents should book the correct service rather than treating every appointment as interchangeable.

Quick answer
Salt Lake City replaced older neighborhood pile schedules with Call 2 Haul. Eligible curbside customers schedule the service and choose the collection type that matches the material.
Eligible City curbside garbage accounts have one bulky pickup and one green-waste-only pickup per year. They are not two interchangeable bulky appointments. Call the main program’s current number, 801-535-6953, to book and list special items.
Furniture, mattresses and household bulky material
Salt Lake City’s current Call 2 Haul page and current material set-out guide both use the same maximum pile shape: about 8 feet wide × 4 feet deep × 4 feet high. Place items out no more than 24 hours before the scheduled collection date.
Keep the pile at least five feet from hydrants, trees, poles, mailboxes and walls, and leave about ten feet of open space on either side when possible so collection equipment can reach it. Do not block sidewalks, driveways or traffic infrastructure.
Appliances, electronics, tires and hazardous items
The City accepts refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners and says it recovers their coolant. Do not infer that the resident must first hire a Freon technician. Remove or secure refrigerator/freezer doors according to the booking instructions. Electronics such as TVs/computers need to be identified for their separate truck.
Up to four auto tires are accepted; larger truck tires are excluded and bicycle tires must be off their wheels. Clean, dry mattresses can be recycled; the main page says other mattresses are landfilled, not automatically refused. HHW, paint, non-alkaline batteries and propane tanks are excluded.
Renovation debris and larger cleanouts
Construction material such as drywall, plaster, fencing and flooring is excluded, along with rocks/dirt and wood longer than five feet. Carpet may be rolled and tied to five feet. Empty gasoline and oil from eligible power equipment.
Book before set-out and review the current accepted list because the City can change program details.
